“Water and Air Researchers” Present the Final Proposals at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan! Look Back on Nearly a Year of Activities with This Video.
Inspired by our joint exhibition with Daikin Industries at a show themed on water and air at Expo 2025 Osaka, held in Japan’s Kansai region, we ran a special next-generation SDGs program titled: SUNTORY x DAIKIN “Out of KidZania” Water and Air Researchers – Children Proposing the Future of Water and Air from Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
A total of 24 elementary and junior high school students were selected to be Water and Air Researchers based on a public application procedure. This program included hands-on work experience at the two companies’ facilities in Tottori last September as well as multiple sessions of online group work to enrich participants’ views about water and air.
The results of these efforts were presented at the “Children's Summit - Conference on the Future of Water and Air,” held at the Future Life Experience venue on May 31. The researchers presented their final proposals to the world as the culmination of their activities in the program “Weaving Water and Air with Children: From Expo 2025 to the Future,” which was held on September 21 at the Theme Weeks Studio.
Through activities spanning almost an entire year, participants earnestly explored the thems of water and air, deepened their learning through multiple rounds of discussions with their peers, and prepared their final proposals on the future of water and air. At the end of the program, all participants made a powerful declaration to carry water and air - essential for all life – into the future and take action toward creating “a future in which life can shine bright.”
We hope that the children will build on this learning experience and continue to take thoughtful action to “pass on clean water into the future.”
