The Water and Air Researchers Reunite for Their Presentations!
– A Hands-on Air Conditioner Disassembly Experience at Daikin Industries’ Fuha: Osaka
Inspired by our joint exhibition with Daikin Industries at a show themed on water and air at Expo 2025 Osaka, held in Japan’s Kansai region, we are running a special next-generation SDGs program titled: SUNTORY x DAIKIN “Out of KidZania” Water and Air Researchers – Children Proposing the Future of Water and Air from Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.
Twenty-four elementary and junior high school students selected to be water and air researchers through the public recruitment of participants will present their proposals for a future society during the “Children’s Summit – Conference on the Future of Water and Air” at the Future Life Experience on May 31, and “Weaving Water and Air with Children: From Expo 2025 to the Future” during the Theme Week program The Future of the Earth and Biodiversity on September 21.
After getting hands-on experience of work at two company facilities in Tottori from September 21 to 23 of last year, and doing online group work in November and January, the children prepared to present their final results for the program at Daikin Industries’ Fuha: Osaka on April 19th.
Although it had been seven months since the researchers had last met in person, the bonds that they formed through their previous experiences of work quickly brought back a strong sense of unity, allowing them to resume discussions of the content of their presentations. They also took part in a hands-on experience of disassembling an air conditioner, where, through learning about its mechanisms, such as how it cools the air in a hot room, they gained new insights into air.
We hope that the presentations by the water and air researchers on stage at the Expo will serve as a catalyst for all of us to take action toward building a sustainable future society.
