The Suntory “Mirai Can” Time Capsule — Born from Employee Ideas

On April 13, 2023, two years ahead of the Expo, we launched a campaign titled “Expo Action!” inviting Suntory Group employees (in Japan) to submit ideas that would help boost the Expo and create a legacy for Suntory. We received 265 applications, of which nine are currently being put into action.
One of these ideas is a hands-on event created by the Corporate Brand Strategy Department.
From Monday, August 25 to Sunday, September 7, we will be exhibiting the Suntory “Mirai Can” Time Capsule, a hands-on booth where visitors can create their own time capsule for free, at the Festival Station (Empowering Lives Zone) within the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai site.
At this booth, visitors can write a message to their future selves or a loved one and seal it in a “Mirai Can” to create a time capsule. They can then choose when to open it, such as “2035” or “when my child becomes an adult,” and take home the “Mirai Can” as a souvenir of Expo 2025.
As exemplified by our whiskey, natural mineral water, and “Suntory Natural Water Sanctuary” water source cultivation initiative, Suntory takes the time to create products and engage in environmental conservation activities with an eye toward the future. We are exhibiting at Expo 2025 in the hope of providing visitors with an opportunity to also think about the future. We hope that each person’s thoughts and dreams will be carried from Expo 2025 to the future and remembered on their own special days.
